Compass Records Signs Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley

 Trey Hensley and Rob Ickes Nashville, TN -- Compass Records is pleased to announce the signing of bluegrass and traditional country-infused duo Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley to the label. Their debut collaboration, Before The Sun Goes Down, slated for a January 2015 release, pairs the International Bluegrass Music Association's 15 time Dobro Player of Year, Ickes, with the up and coming singer/guitarist, Hensley, whom Ickes recently discovered in a stroke of good luck. Says Ickes, "Last year, when we were working on the latest Blue Highway album, The Game, we needed a scratch vocal done on one song so we could play live without having to go back and replace the vocal.

Jason Barie Departs Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver

Jason BarieJason Barie has left DLQ, and Doyle has hired Stephen Burwell to fill the fiddle position. Doyle announced, "After nearly 6 years of having Jason Barie handling the fiddle duties for Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Jason has decided to pursue other interests. He is a devoted husband and father and wants to be home more to participate in his family's activities. Jason is a wonderful person and musician. All of us at Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver will miss him and wish him the very best in the future."

Matthew Arndt Exits Kevin Pace and the Early Edition

Blue Circle Records Artist Constant Change: Evolving

The Boxcars Welcome New Member Gary Hultman to Group

He chose ETSU for college and made his way to Tennessee. Hultman is majoring in Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music and expects to graduate in 2016, already a member of one of the genre’s most honored bands.
