A Young Artist, Mikaya Taylor, One to Keep an Eye On

Mikaya TaylorTen year old Mikaya Taylor has entered the Female Bluegrass Vocalist World with a Bang. She is being called "Kentucky’s Singing Angel" and has quite a following at area Festivals and on Social Media. Mikaya lives in a small town called Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. She is in the 5th grade. Mikaya has been singing since she was two around the house.

Meet St. Beaufort - Fresh Folk & Bluegrass from Berlin

St. BeaufortSt. Beaufort is an international folk and bluegrass trio from Canada, Germany and the USA. It was founded as Hungerhoff & The Wild Roots in 2012. Based on guitar, mandolin, banjo, accordion and layers of colorful vocal harmonies, the band is raw acoustics and forges a bridge between the American folk and bluegrass tradition and contemporary songwriting. Whenever possible the band plays unplugged, stripped to their acoustics, delivering powerful live performances in memory of a time when music was more intimate.

Siblings Keeping the Sounds of a Tradition Alive

Marteka and William LakeMarteka and William Lake are not unfamiliar in the social media social media scene. Here we have a brother-sister duo that are trying to emulate the sound of other bluegrass artists but, in this case those artists are Earl Scruggs & Lester Flatt! Cybergrass frequently focuses on youth in bluegrass and these two from Hacker Valley, West Virgina are bringing that focus directly on them. Marteka and William, as they're most commonly known, have just released their latest and fourth album, The Sounds of a Tradition consisting of 11 tracks of pure traditional bluegrass music. This album is hot on the heels of their 2013 release, True Grass Revival.

Cedar Creek Management Announces The Burrows Brothers

The Burrows Brothers BandAdam and Jake Burrows, former members of Lonesome Will Mullins' band have formed a new band to carry on the traditional music that they love. This lineup allows the band to do more brother duets, as it moves Adam to the frontline on guitar and lead vocals, his brother Jake on banjo and tenor vocals. Rounding out the group is Mike Walker on mandolin/baritone vocals and Wes Deaton bassfiddle/bass vocals.

Blue Circle Records Artist Constant Change: Evolving

Constant ChangeConstant Change was formed in January of 2002 by a group of North Carolina musicians in their twenties with a passion for bluegrass music. For the first several years the band lived up to its name, as various hot young pickers came and went. But once Brian Aldridge (banjo) and his brother Daniel (mandolin) stepped in to join founding member Clifton Preddy (fiddle), the nucleus of a special band was in place. With Greg Luck and Zak McLamb now in the band, they are surely a “band to watch”.

Award-winning fiddler Michael Cleveland brings dynamic traditional bluegrass to the stage with his award-winning band, Flamekeeper, in a show that will leave the audience talking. A nine-time winner of the International Bluegrass Music Association's Fiddle Performer of the Year award, Mike and his talented band present a program of tight vocal trios and duos, blistering instrumentals, and fiddle-and-banjo duets that echo the first-generation stars of bluegrass. The show is rounded out with Mike's dry wit and the band's sense of fun.

Can You Hear Me?“This is awesome – Ladies and gentlemen, once again, The HillBenders!” The shouts and cheers of the 2012 Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival attendees fill the tent as the band tunes up for their encore. The guitarist, sporting a headband and John Lennon sunglasses, approaches the microphone. “Folks, we apologize in advance if one of us falls into your tent...we plan on playing all night tonight!” The supercharged crowd roars in response.
