Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver to Perform on Song of the Mountains

Doyle Lawson & QuicksilverMarion, VA- Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver will make their second appearance on Song of the Mountains at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, VA on Saturday, February 2, 2013. Doyle is legendary in both bluegrass and gospel genres and frequently mixes them to deliver something special. Doyle has been playing and singing since he was 11. He and his group Quicksilver have won numerous awards, and Doyle has released nearly 40 albums and CDs. Doyle's awards include the National Heritage Fellowship and an Honorary PhD of Fine Arts at King College.

Henderson & Little, Folk Soul Revival on Song of the Mountains

Song of the MountainsMarion, VA -- Song of the Mountains, the award winning public television concert series based at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia announces the start of their ninth season of tapings on Saturday, January 12, 2013. The first concert for 2013 will feature fan favorites Wayne Henderson and Jeff Little. This talented duo has appeared on Song of the Mountains several times in the past and showcase their extraordinary mix of acoustic guitar picking and powerful piano playing. Also on the concert January 12th will be Bristol, TN-VA based Folk Soul Revival.

Bluegrass Music Group Seldom Scene to Headline Song of the Mountains

Seldom SceneMarion, VA-.The legendary bluegrass music group Seldom Scene will headline the final Song of the Mountains concert for 2012 on Saturday, December 15th at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia. Also performing on the show will be the Redhead Express from Alaska, the old time music of the Wolfe Brothers from southwestern Virginia and Jeff Brown and Still Lonesome from Cedar Bluff, Virginia.

Song of the Mountain November 3rd Taping was Excellent Show

Lonesome River Band at 30Song of the Mountain had a fantastic concert taping at the Lincoln Theatre last Saturday evening. It was great to have the award winning bluegrass music group Lonesome River Band return to the show. They have not been on the program since our first season in 2005. Sammy Shelor who plays banjo with the Lonesome River Band was last year's recipient of the "Steve Martin Award for Excellence in Banjo & Bluegrass" which included a $50,000.00 monetary prize.

Rodney DillardMarion, VA -- He was one of the Darling Boys on the 1960s "Andy Griffith Show" and he is going to tape an episode of Song of the Mountains at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia on Saturday, March 3rd. Rodney Dillard and the Dillard Band will headline the concert on March 3rd which will also include musical performances by the Close Kin Project and Bobby and Blue Ridge Tradition.
