Nominations Open for Third Annual Music Educator Award

Music Educator AwardThe Music Educator Award to be presented by The Recording Academy and the Grammy Foundation was established to recognize current educators (kindergarten through college, public and private schools) who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in the schools.

New Grammy Category for Americana Roots Music

Grammy AwardThe Americana Music Association applauds the Recording Academy® for adding a new category - Best American Roots Music Performance, an artist’s award - to the American Roots Music Field for the 2015 GRAMMY® Awards. The new category will give Americana, and other roots music artists, a home for the recognition of their work. The new category compliments previously created categories including Best American Roots Music Song, Best Americana Album, Best Bluegrass Album, Best Blues Album, Best Folk Album and Best Regional Roots Album.

Bluegrass Music Grammy Award Nominations Announced

The Dellas — with Erick Jaskowiak, Shelby Means, Celia Woodsmith, Courtney Hartman, Kimber Ludiker and Jenni Lyn GardnerNominations for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards were announced by The Recording Academy. The Boxcars, Dailey & Vincent, Della Mae, James King and the Del McCoury Band lead off for the Best Bluegrass Album Grammy Award nominations. This is always an exciting time for bluegrass bands and probably even more exciting for the International Bluegrass Music Association's (IBMA) Emerging Artist of the Year Della Mae. Della Mae has had an outstanding year getting recognized, nominated and awarded for top awards in music. The Grammy nomination adding to their year.

The Recording Academy® Approves Continuing Evolution Of GRAMMY Awards

Grammy AwardSanta Monica, CA -- The Recording Academy® announced today that recording artist and co-owner of MoonHouse Studio Christine Albert was elected Chair of the Board of Trustees, producer/engineer John Poppo was elected Vice Chair, and four-time GRAMMY®-, 12-time Latin GRAMMY®- and three-time Emmy®-winning engineer Eric Schilling was elected Secretary/Treasurer at its annual spring Board of Trustees meeting. Outgoing Chair of the Board and GRAMMY-nominated TV/video producer George J. Flanigen IV was elected Chair Emeritus. As part of the meeting, The Academy's Board of Trustees also approved several changes to the Awards process, including: renaming the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance category to Best Metal Performance; expanding the American Roots Music Field by establishing a new category for Best American Roots Song; and renaming and revising the Music Video Field to Music Video/Film Field. This brings the total number of GRAMMY categories that will be recognized at the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards® on January 26, 2014, to 82.
