Kruger Brothers to Perform on Song of the Mountains

Kruger BrothersMarion, VA- The Kruger Brothers will headline the Song of the Mountains public television taping at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, VA on Saturday, March 2nd. Originally from Switzerland, brothers Uwe and Jens Kruger began play­ing North American folk music at an early age and were particularly inspired by recordings of Doc Watson, Flatt and Scruggs, Bill Monroe, and other progenitors of country, bluegrass and folk music. Their first public performances were as a duo, busking on the streets of cities throughout eastern and western Europe.

Acclaimed Bluegrass Underground Wins Emmy Award

The honorees were announced January 26th in a ceremony at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, TN. Bluegrass Underground is a live concert and radio show held inside the Volcano Room -- an amphitheater 333 feet underground, one of the most acoustically pure natural spaces on or under the earth.

Henderson & Little, Folk Soul Revival on Song of the Mountains

Song of the MountainsMarion, VA -- Song of the Mountains, the award winning public television concert series based at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia announces the start of their ninth season of tapings on Saturday, January 12, 2013. The first concert for 2013 will feature fan favorites Wayne Henderson and Jeff Little. This talented duo has appeared on Song of the Mountains several times in the past and showcase their extraordinary mix of acoustic guitar picking and powerful piano playing. Also on the concert January 12th will be Bristol, TN-VA based Folk Soul Revival.

Bluegrass Underground Announces Third Season PBS Taping Lineup

Bluegrass UndergroundAt the Bluegrass Underground, the acclaimed musical adventure series continues with Old Crow Medicine Show, Yonder Mountain String Band, Leon Russell, Andrew Bird and more! From March 8 through 10 at the Volcano Room at Cumberland Caverns in McMinnville, Tennessee, Season 3 tapings will continue for rebroadcast on PBS.

Song of the Mountain November 3rd Taping was Excellent Show

Lonesome River Band at 30Song of the Mountain had a fantastic concert taping at the Lincoln Theatre last Saturday evening. It was great to have the award winning bluegrass music group Lonesome River Band return to the show. They have not been on the program since our first season in 2005. Sammy Shelor who plays banjo with the Lonesome River Band was last year's recipient of the "Steve Martin Award for Excellence in Banjo & Bluegrass" which included a $50,000.00 monetary prize.

Scheduled to appear on the April 14th concert are bluegrass music artists Sierra Hull and Highway 111, Roni Stoneman and Mountain Country which includes her sister Donna Stoneman, Lou Reid and Carolina and the Cockman Family.

Pa'S Fiddle: The Music of America Premieres as PBS National Pledge Special

Pa's FiddlePa's Fiddle: The Music of America, the CD series, is based on music that Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote about in her Little House series. The most recent CD, "Pa's Fiddle" will be released on June 5th. The PBS special will bring the music to life.

Hot Bluegrass Duo, The Roys, Tape PBS Special - Check Out Behind-the-scenes Footage

The Pa's Fiddle Project Comes to PBS

Pa's FiddleNashville, TN -- This Friday, January 6th, a concert based on the music written about in the Little House on the Prairie series of books by author Laura Ingalls Wilder, will be filmed at the Loveless Barn in Franklin, TN before a live audience, for broadcast by the PBS television network. Pa's Fiddle: America's Music will broadcast first during the June pledge-drive season on PBS stations throughout the nation, and be available to those stations for broadcast over the next two years.

The Bluegrass Underground features top bluegrass music artists throughout the season.

Austin City Limits Presents: Americana Festival Nov. 19 on PBS

Avett Brothers at 10th American Music Assoc.Nashville, TN-November 8, 2011-Robert Plant, Emmylou Harris, Gregg Allman, Alison Krauss, The Avett Brothers and The Civil Wars are just a few of the artists appearing on "ACL Presents: Americana Music Festival," sponsored by Nissan and airing starting November 19th on PBS stations nationwide (check local listings). Called "the best awards show in the world" by Paste Magazine, the hour long special was filmed live at the Ryman Auditorium on October 13, 2011 during the sold-out Americana Music Association's Honors and Awards and features special performances from the genres' established and rising stars.
