Old Settler's Music Festival Announces Partial 2015 Lineup

Bluegrass, roots and alt-country are on the menu with some of the finest acts touring today.

Sam BushPerhaps you followed the drama that surrounded the International Bluegrass Music Association moving its annual World Of Bluegrass convention from Nashville to Raleigh, NC last year. The group, which supports the art and business of bluegrass worldwide, wrestled with declining attendance and many complicated pros and cons of Nashville. We were courted by officials from Raleigh who proved beyond a doubt that they wanted World of Bluegrass to be part of their Fall calendar and culture. And long story short, we made a very tough decision to head to a new city and it went better than any of us dared to hope. Even the IBMA Awards show was a hit, despite the painful sacrifice of moving out of the Ryman Auditorium.

Bluegrass Artists Congregate at Earl Scruggs Center Opening

The celebration include bluegrass, country and Americana artists who have either been influenced by Scruggs or have performed with him. Earl Scruggs is credited with the 3-Finger picking style that has become a trademark of bluegrass. Scruggs also performed many other styles and with a broad range of performers.

As per the artist’s representative: “Alison Krauss was recently diagnosed with a vocal condition called dysphonia. Alison has been advised to have vocal rest, and therefore will not be performing at Wide Open Bluegrass next weekend. We anticipate a smooth, quick recovery given proper treatment and adequate rest.”
