The Local Honeys

The Carter Fold Host The Local Honeys, Nott Brothers Sept 13

The Local HoneysHiltons, VA -- The Local Honeys are a vibrant, female trio specializing in old time music. The group met as students and faculty at the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music at Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky, and are multi-instrumentalists and vocalists. They incorporate comedy and dance into their performances. Montana Hobbs, Stephanie Jeter, and Linda Jean Stokley are the Local Honeys. Montana plays the clawhammer style banjo. Stephanie plays autoharp and guitar, and Linda Jean plays the old time fiddle. All do beautiful harmony vocals. The group has appeared regionally as well as internationally. The Red Barn Radio Show, the Kentucky Folk Art Center, Wallace Station, and concert tours in China, Jamaica, and the Czech Republic are just a few examples of the venues they’ve played. These young ladies consider themselves ambassadors of traditional Appalachian music and are dedicated to the preservation of traditional songs, ballads, fiddle tunes, and dance.
