Tennessee State Senate Honors Dailey & Vincent

Dailey & Vincent in Tennessee SenateNashville, TN -- American music duo Dailey & Vincent are continuing the celebration of their 10-year anniversary and induction as the newest members of the Grand Ole Opry with a recent honor on the floor of the Tennessee Senate Capitol Building during the final day of the 2017 legislative session. Senator Paul Bailey (R-Sparta) sponsored Senate Resolution 132, which honors the group for their many contributions to the country and state.

Chris Thile Recognized as Murray State University Outstanding Alumnus

Chris ThileGrammy Award-winning musician Chris Thile won the 2014 Outstanding Alumni in Fine Arts award from his alma mater, presented at the 6th Annual A Taste of the Arts Dinner and Auction at Murray State University on October 9, 2014. Thile, of Punch Brothers and Nickle Creek, is a mandolin virtuoso, composer, and vocalist. In a review of his latest release, Who’s Feeling Young Now?, London’s Independent called Thile “the most remarkable mandolinist in the world.” The MacArthur Foundation echoed that assessment when it named Thile one of its 23 MacArthur Fellows for 2012. In honoring Thile, the MacArthur Foundation noted that his “lyrical fusion of traditional bluegrass with elements from a range of other musical traditions is giving rise to a new genre of contemporary music.”

Country Music Hall of Fame Welcomes Three New Inductees

 CMA CEO Sarah Trahern; Suzi Cochran, widow of Hank Cochran; Mac Wiseman; Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Director Kyle Young; and Ronnie Milsap.Nashville, TN -- Mac Wiseman, Hank Cochran, and Ronnie Milsap each overcame extraordinarily difficult childhoods to put a distinctive footprint on American music history. Each now shares another accomplishment: they became the newest inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame on October 26, 2014.

Jo Walker-Meador to be Honored in Louise Scruggs Memorial Forum

Lester Flatt's Hometown Honors him with Historical Marker

American Academy of Arts & Sciences to Honor Dr. Ralph Stanley

Dr. Ralph StanleyNashville, TN -- Trailblazing musician Dr. Ralph Stanley has been elected a fellow in the humanities and arts category of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in a class that also includes actor and director Al Pacino, novelists John Irving and Annie Proulx, Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Jules Feiffer, former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich and oceanographer and discoverer of the Titanic, Robert Ballard, among others. Dr. Stanley will be honored in a ceremony taking place Saturday, October 11, 2014.
