Doyle Lawson Elected President of Bluegrass

Doyle LawsonBristol, TN/VA -- Doyle Lawson has been voted the President of Bluegrass Music this week in a poll sponsored by Bluegrass Today Magazine. The poll numbers stayed neck-and-neck between Doyle and Del McCoury, with no one else in close contention for the top spot in the first-ever race for President of Bluegrass. The final numbers reflected 37% of votes for Doyle Lawson and 30% for McCoury.

Legendary Bluegrass Artist Doyle Lawson to be Inducted into IBMA Hall of Fame

Doyle LawsonNashville, TN -- The IBMA has announced that Doyle Lawson will be inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame at the 23rd Annual IBMA Awards to be held at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on Thursday, September 27, 2012. Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver are also nominated as IBMA Vocal Group of the Year and for Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year for “I Saw Him Walk Out of the Sky.”

Ricky Skaggs to be Inducted into GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame

Ricky SkaggsNashville, TN -- Though Ricky Skaggs may be more widely known for his Country and Bluegrass music, there is another format that remains very near and dear to his heart -- Gospel. In fact, it was Gospel hymns that ignited Skaggs’ love affair with music. To date, almost every album Skaggs has released has included at least one Gospel, Christian, or inspirational Country song. On August 14, Skaggs’ adoration for the genre comes full circle when he is inducted into the GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

R. Bryan for a special Wilkes County Heritage Music Award.

SGMA Announces the Class of 2012 Hall of Fame Inductees

Dr. Jim Goff, induction committee chairman, made the announcements: in the living category, Jim Hill and Buck Rambo and in the deceased category, Charlie Burke, Stuart Hamblen, Geraldine Morrison and Ace Richman.
