Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper Celebrate #1 with "Fiddlin' Joe"

On Down the LineCharlestown, IN -- 9-Time IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper are proud to announce "Fiddlin' Joe," the first single from their Compass Records release, On Down the Line, has reached #1 on the National Bluegrass Survey's Top 30 Songs chart for March. "Fiddlin' Joe" was written specifically for the band by Mark "Brink" Brinkman, a 2014 nominee for IBMA's Songwriter of the Year award. Additionally, On Down the Line has spent six months on the Top 15 Albums chart and is #8 for March.

WAMU's Bluegrass Country Airs Live Concert Friday

"Too Late for Goodbyes" is a hard-driving bluegrass take on the Julian Lennon hit from 1984. Propelled by instrumental trades between banjo player Glenn Gibson and Cleveland, the bluegrass version is an unexpected twist on what was originally a rock song steeped in the electronic synth sounds of the era.

Gibson has been a three-year member of Flamekeeper, but a life-long friend to Cleveland and his fellow Flamekeeper bandmates. His final performance with the band will be Thursday, October 16th at the Festival of the Riverboats in Louisville, KY.

Nathan Livers Hair CutCharlestown, IN -- Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper are pleased to announce they have exceeded their goal of 5000 Facebook Fans as a result of their "Locks For Likes" contest. The band launched the contest in 2013 with the promise of a special Flamekeeper Prize Package to one lucky winner, and a haircut for Flamekeeper mandolin player, Nathan Livers, who would donate his hair to Locks of Love, a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

Award-winning fiddler Michael Cleveland brings dynamic traditional bluegrass to the stage with his award-winning band, Flamekeeper, in a show that will leave the audience talking. A nine-time winner of the International Bluegrass Music Association's Fiddle Performer of the Year award, Mike and his talented band present a program of tight vocal trios and duos, blistering instrumentals, and fiddle-and-banjo duets that echo the first-generation stars of bluegrass. The show is rounded out with Mike's dry wit and the band's sense of fun.
