Birthplace of Country Music Museum Receives Merit Award

American Association for State and Local History AwardBristol, TN/VA -- The American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) proudly announces that the Birthplace of Country Music Museum is the recipient of an Award of Merit for their permanent exhibits on the history and legacy of the 1927 Bristol Sessions. The AASLH Leadership in History Awards, now in its 71st year, is the most prestigious recognition for achievement in the preservation and interpretation of state and local history.

Barry Mitterhoff Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Judging is based on a song’s originality, lyrics, melody and overall commercial potential.

David Naiditch Wins the 14th Independent Music Awards for Bluegrass Album

Bluegrass in the BackwoodsDavid's "Bluegrass in the Backwoods" is an instrumental CD that features dazzling solos by Stuart Duncan, Sierra Hull, Rob Ickes, Ron Block, Jake Workman, Dennis Caplinger, Christian Ward, and other topnotch virtuosos. David Naiditch won the 14th Independent Music Awards (IMA) for Bluegrass Album. The surprise is that David Naiditch plays the chromatic harmonica, an instrument that is used in jazz but that, as far as we know, hasn't been recorded in bluegrass since Jimmy Riddle of Hee Haw fame released his "Country Harmonica" LP in 1964.

Rhonda Vincent Captures her 8th Female Vocalist of the Year Award

Loretta Hummel Receives Bluegrass Artist of the Year

Loretta HummelDuring the 2015 CGMA (Country Gospel Music Association) Eastern Division Convention, held August 17, 2015 through August 22, 2015, in Kissimmee, Florida, Loretta Hummel received three silver heart awards, namely: Bluegrass Artist of the Year for Down By the Meadow, which is on her upcoming album This Heart of Mine. Lyricist for My Savior, My King, and Yodeler for My Shy Friend. The words and music of these songs were written and composed by Hummel.
